Singapore - Sorted

Day 108: Sunday July 4th 2004. I took the spotlessly clean mass transit system underground train from the airport to 'Little India' and walked to the 'Inn crowd' backpackers hostel, where I rejoined the backpacker trail. I couldn't tell if it was just the change of scenery, or the change of vibe, but my mood, the atmosphere, whatever, was better again. I spent the evening in a bar talking to interesting people about interesting things eating (somewhat interesting) Indian food - sorted.

Day 109: Monday July 5th 2004. I went out this morning with the intention of doing some serious shopping. I only managed to spend about three quid on a couple of lighters and a screwdriver to repair my shades. Damn, I used to be so good at shopping too! I spent the rest of the day hanging around the backpackers chatting to people about Australia - quite a few people had just come up from there. Went back to the Aussie bar for beer and Indian food again that evening.

Day 110: Tuesday July 6th 2004. Got up early to pack and set off for my flight to Oz. Packing was a bit of a hassle in a dormitory of 30+ people - I didn't fancy being the evil 'plastic bag rustler' who wakes everyone up, so I had to drag my open, spilling pack into the corridor and pack there.

The journey to the airport was also a little hassled, as I was running a little late. I managed to check in with just enough time to buy some duty free headphones and have a last minute fag in the stunning cactus gardens at Changi airport. I nearly lost my Swiss army knife again by forgetting to take it out of my hand luggage. It was 'seized' by customs, but the airline allowed me to put it in a bag and check it as normal luggage. Onwards to Oz!
